The rivet is a cold connection that joins objects together using wire and the process “upsetting” through forging with a hammer.
Step 1: Use the drill press to create holes in the two elements.
Step 2: Align the rivet wire with the holes. If it is too large for the holes, use a needle file to enlarge the hole.
Step 3: After cutting the wire, file the edges to get the perfect size.
Step 4: Using a small ball peen hammer, hit the rivet wire until it holds the wire can secure the metal pieces. The rivet is completed.
